Ex Lanark Grammar pupil and Motherwell U19 Captain sets sail for America

Former Lanark Grammar School pupil and Ex Motherwell U19 captain Andrew Forrest has left the club by mutual consent and signed a coveted soccer scholarship with NCAA D2 Christian Brothers University in Memphis, Tennessee.

19 year old Andrew leaves for America in July for warm weather training in Florida before travelling to Memphis to meet up with his new team mates for pre-season training.

Andrew spent 9 years at Motherwell and leaves with a heavy heart but is now focused on this new adventure. He will spend his next 4 years combining a business degree while representing the university soccer team in a full time capacity.

Clint Browne Head Men’s Soccer coach at CBU worked with United Sports USA’s Andy Newman himself an Ex Scottish schoolboy internationalist and professional with Hibernian FC to persuade the centre back that CBU would provide the correct environment to continue his soccer career while also focusing on his studies.

Clint went on to say ‘’ I have worked with the staff United Sports USA for over 10 years now and have struck up a trusting relationship with them, they are basically my eyes and ears for players in the UK, when Andrew was recommended we had to move fast to secure his signature due to the amount of interest he had from other colleges/universities so we are delighted to have captured his signature’’
