United Sports USA – Clients versus Applicants Footage Match.

On Sunday 18th May 2014, United Sports USA’s male soccer clients took part in a match against applicants, in what was a thoroughly entertaining match enjoyed by staff, players and parents in attendance.

Fraser Gibson, ex University of Northern Illinois University soccer scholarship recipient and current Managing Director of United Sports USA was tasked with assessing the players in what were excellent conditions after an extremely wet period of weather in the UK. Assisting Fraser was our London based soccer consultant Pete Davie’s, Pete is a graduate from Foothill college in California and ended his college career at Montana State Billings.

All applicants are sent an invite to one of UK based soccer venues, we have assessment centres in London, Manchester and Scotland.

Players are asked to bring:
Water bottle
Football boots
Towel
Warm up clothing

United Sports USA provide:
Strips
Balls
Warm up equipment

On assessment day, players will be met and greeted by our staff, registered, presented with information and provided with their squad number for the day. Players will then make their way to the changing rooms where they will find their strips hanging up, team list and formation for the match ahead. We will then have a ‘champions league style line up’ to allow our staff to identify every player during and after the event. This will be followed by our staff conducting a professional standard warm up to ensure players are ready to start the match.

The match is filmed, every client will have the match edited with their specific highlights which is then posted on their online profile for college coaches to view. The match itself will be slit into 3 x 30minute periods which allows player to have regular breaks, fluid intake, it also provides our staff with the chance to change personnel, formation or to provide advice to players.

After the match players will be taken for a warm down, debrief and will then make the journey home.

All applicants will receive feedback on their performance within 48 hours after the event. Our staff will have noted from the match and will also watch the match again the day after the event to make decision as to who will gain a place on United Sports USA soccer scholarship program and unfortunately who does not.

We work with 50-60 male players per year which is split in to smaller numbers per position and academic performance to ensure their is not huge competition in one or two positions. We usually work with 4 in each position and 8-10 at Centre Back, Centre Midfield and Striker.
